NIGHT OF THE BEAT BANGAZ

This event cannot be missed and should be put on your calendar!! This is a special edition to “Night of the Beat Bangaz,” celebrating the release of DJ Azuhl’s collaborative cd with Grenville Williams (High Voltage), Afrikan Shockwave Vol 1. In full command delivering hip hop from all angles, will be the mighty Cape Flats Beat Bangaz (Ready D, E-20, Azuhl, Shamiel X). With countless performances and accolades to their name, The Beat Bangaz are sure to entertain, educate and amaze with their turntable mastery and antics but always keeping the dance floor ablaze with hip hop, funk, ragga and everything in between.

The evening is a celebration of DJ Azuhl’s first official release and he will be joined by some of the artists that appear on the project. E.J. Von Lyrik needs no introduction to the S.A music scene whether as member of hip hop outfit Godessa or as a solo artist. Her debut album , “Method in the madness,” has received rave reviews. Currently putting finishing touches to her second album and gearing up for a European tour , this is an artist to check out. She appears with High Voltage artist DJ Azuhl and Teba Shumba (collectively known as The Dreaded Banga Sound System) who will be bringing the ragga heat to Zula Bar. Teba is also recording his second album and recently returned from a U.K tour. His insightful riddims and energy always entertain.

Mr. Demus and Jean Pierre, no strangers to the Cape Town hip hop scene also contributed to “Afrikan Shockwave Vol 1.” After a decade of “grass roots” level hip hop activity with rap groups Illminded Society and School of Thought, Jean Pierre emerged on the general music scene as a open minded and eager musician. A former member of Cape Town based, Supadan he recently released his debut album, “ A Universal Message.” Mr. Demus also enjoyed mainstream success with Wayne Robertson (known as super producer, HIPE) as Ancient Men with their track “Someday.” Their works were also featured on the Ready D album, “Not for the Fainthearted.” He is currently working with Maniak on their “Getuies” project. Both Cape Town sons will join the High Voltage family on stage.

The night won’t be complete without b-boys in the form of Hand Brake Turn. One of South Africa’s
most hardworking and top crews they have toured Europe, win countless dance contests and are members of top South African crews like BVK (Brasse Vannie Kaap) and P.O.C (Prophets of the City).
Always on the forefront on the dancehall and ragga, Dub Master China will also be on deck duties.
As band member, artist, producer and dj/selector he’s sure to bring the fire!! Night of the Beat Bangaz also serves as a platform for up and coming dj’s and this one is no different. DJ J-EFX from Paarl will lend support for the evening. DJ Eazy( Chief Rockers, Faculty of Hip Hop and G..H.E.T.T.O.P.I.M.P show on U.C.T Radio) will be hosting the event.

R40 gets you in with the first 100 people getting free Beat Bangaz mixtapes. Freebies throughout the evening. Cd’s of all artists will be available for sale as well as DJ Azuhl & Grenville Williams ’ “Afrikan Shockwave Vol 1.” All happening at Zula Sound Bar, 196 Long Street, Cape Town.
