AFRICAN SHOCKWAVE VOLUME ONE

African Shockwave Volume one, the first release of DJ Azuhl in collaboration with Grenville Williams (High Voltage) is described as one of the most anticipated album release of 2010.
Previously with bands Nine as well as Firing Squad, bassist & producer Grenville Williams has worked as a producer for Moodphase5ive and South African female rap group Godessa. Teaming up with The Beat Bangaz & Brasse vannie Kaap's, DJ Azuhl, was the perfect addition to this mixtape album.

DJ Ready D – Iconic African hip hip pioneer, Radio and television presenter.

African Shockwave Volume one consists of a dynamic mix of South African music ranging from Funk, Ragga and Hip Hop. Artists such as the Godessa's one third EJ von Lyrik, SAMA winner Claire Phillips and multi talented Teba Shumba are just a few names featured.
The track “Hold On” is the first single to be released from this project. Written by Claire Phillips and Trevor Jones, the radio friendly single provides a tasteful introduction to this eclectic album.
In addition, the single includes a house remix of “Hold On” by Seven Soul Records artist and producer Erefaan Pierce as well as EJ von Lyrik's “Show me nothing” also featured on African Shockwave Volume one.

African Shockwave Volume one is now available in stores (distributed by KMD), Rhythm Online and I-Tunes.

Keep it moving...

What a month….it was here now it’s gone. I’ve always maintained that the World Cup was a bitter sweet event. It was one of the best advertising campaigns for our country, putting us on the world map. 65billion of public funds spent according to Tony Ehrenreich, Cosatu provincial secretary, an influx of tourists, soccer fans seeing their favorite teams it made for a month of scales being tipped on either sides continuously. With all said and done we still face the ugly face of poverty and the growing economic divide. With newly “infrastructures” in place the backlog of housing can hopefully be addressed with the profits made from these public funds. We shouldn’t also be fooled into thinking that event has brought a new found patriotism….we are still racially, economically divided even amongst our own communities. I do believe that sports, music and arts can help bridge these divides but government should really scrutinize their “existing” projects and assess it’s effectiveness.




I refuse to be a doom sayer and always hope for Zion but have to face the reality and challenges that face us. Amandla!

The irie-ness of random-ness

The soccer frenzie has captured S.A and the rest of the world. Though I'm not really a soccer fan and aware of the blow taxpayers are being dealt, this is a good advertisement for the world of the wealth of talent that S.A posseses. I crossed paths with a musician who I can say I am a fan of -Kyle Sheperd. Check http://www.www.kyleshepherd.co.za/  for the stats! It turns out that there's a mutual respect for our work and it's good to know that I will be doing a project with this young man that is so talented. It was a double whammy when I performed on the same stage with Warrick Sony member of the infamous Kalahari Surfers at the Speak the Mind spoken word festival over the past weekend. I'm still busy with promo with my debut album but the scripting of my followup is well on track. I cannot wait to jam with these two insightfull individuals and just learn! E.J is currently in Europe for two months with the Champions Band minus DJ Azuhl lol. It's sad that I'm still encountering individuals that claim to be my fans and supporting me but still asks me if they must buy my cd - duh...I have free mixtapes circulating araound cant you at least buy an album?
